Supporting Transgender Athletes

As we approach Transgender Visibility Day on March 31st, let’s reflect on the importance of this day and how we can make our Atlanta Pride Run more inclusive for transgender individuals.

Transgender Visibility Day is a time to recognize and celebrate the resilience and strength of the transgender community. It's also an opportunity to raise awareness about the issues that this community faces on a daily basis, including discrimination, violence, and lack of access to healthcare.

Here are a few ways that we can ensure that our event is inclusive and welcoming for everyone:

Use inclusive language

Avoid assumptions about someone's gender identity or pronouns. Consider asking for people's preferred pronouns and using gender-neutral language when possible.

Respect Personal Space

Give people the space they need to feel comfortable and safe. Be aware of your body language and avoid making assumptions about someone's gender or identity based on their appearance.

Be An Ally

Support the transgender community by standing up against discrimination and advocating for their rights. Use your voice and platform to promote transgender visibility and celebrate their accomplishments.

Let's use the Atlanta Pride Run as an opportunity to not only celebrate our own identities but to also show solidarity with our transgender siblings. Together, we can create a more inclusive and welcoming world for everyone.
