Front Runners Atlanta was started in 1990 by a group of LGBTQIA+ runners who were seeking a community during the HIV crisis. Due to the hostility toward our community at the time, they had to meet in secret at an Atlanta Library. Their mission was to create friendships and community through running.

That same year, they created the Atlanta Pride Run, the first LGBTQIA+ run in Atlanta, to raise money to help those impacted by HIV.

Over the years, the Atlanta Pride Run has championed for LGBTQIA+ rights and raised more than $250,000 for the community.
